As a very experienced teacher, I have worked for over 10 years with a variety of neurodiverse people aged between 6-60 who have their own individual stories regarding why music and why now? I love to learn about your style of learning and how I can best support your learning process on your chosen instrument. I believe music education lacks this individualistic approach, and I am keen to fill this gap within my music sessions. This includes learning essential techniques, following a grade syllabus, improvising/jamming with me, thinking about songwriting, and improving memory skills. I like to use the music that motivated you to learn music in the first place before using this to help with the learning process in a motivating and exciting framework! This also includes writing exercises, pieces, and engaging in a consistent approach where I am dedicated to uncovering and supporting you in your musical journey.
Additionally, I have experience teaching autistic individuals piano and drums. This includes using aspects of visual learning (colours etc) and my music therapy training to help them learn and use music as a beneficial experience in their life. Music is often a powerful and accessible tool for communication and emotional regulation for these individuals, and I believe learning these skills can help with later life as they grow into young adults.
